Locke Wesley Davenport

Locke Wesley Davenport, 96, of Elkins Road, Leicester, formerly of Orchard St., Enka, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002 in a local hospital. A native of McDowell County, Mr. Davenport was a son of the late Samuel Wesley and Polly Lewis Davenport. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Allie Collins Davenport who died in 1997. He was a former employee of American Enka with 33 years of service. Survivors include a son, Richard Davenport of Leicester; one grandchild, Jennifer Wallace of Leicester; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Morgan Wallace and two sisters, Wilma Fowler and Freda Holbert, both of Hendersonville. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend John T. Tiller officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hendersonville. The family will receive friends 7:00 - 8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
