Carroll Burnice Earwood, 75, of Asheville, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Charles George Veterans Medical Center.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Emory and Carrie Jackson Earwood.
Carroll was an avid bluegrass musician and a United States Army veteran, serving in Korea.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Roma Dondrue Wooten Earwood; one daughter, Donna Phillips and her husband, Ron, of Fairview; two sons, Darrell Earwood and his wife, Tammie, of Fairview and Stan Lester and his wife, Teresa, of Asheville; three sisters, Ruby Earwood and Emma Lou Jones, both of Fairview and Marjorie Ownsbey of Asheville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka with Reverend Robert Earwood officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, June 14, 2010 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.

Carroll will always be number 1 in my book. I will keep you in my prayers, and I am so thankful that Carroll and each one of you are in my life and in my heart. I wish I could be there but I love you all.
I can just see him now playing the fiddle with my dad and having a good time ole’time in heaven!
Please let us know if we can do anything to make this easier for you all.
Hope he’s playin Maidens Prayer. I think of him whenever I hear that tune.

I just heard about Emory Junior’s brother Carroll’s passing. You have my heartfelt sympathy. I know Emory Junior enjoyed his brother’s company whenever they were together. Now they will be together for all eternity.
