William T. �Bill� Holcombe, 72, of 33 Parkview Drive, Candler, died Monday, October 14, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Holcombe was born in Buncombe County, was a son of the late Charles Affie and Bonnie Meadows Holcombe and was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles A. Holcombe. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired November 1, 1988, from Southern Bell after 38 years of service. He was an active member of West Asheville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine �Gerry� Corbin Holcombe; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah H. and David Bradley of Buford, GA and Donna H. and Jeff McKinney of Asheville; one grandson Derek Mikael Bradley; and four sisters, Mary Chambers, Dorothy Ray, Evelyn Carter and Marjorie Stockton, all of Asheville.
Private interment will be at 10:00 am Thursday at Pisgah View Memorial Park followed by a public memorial service at 11:00 am at West Asheville Baptist Church. The Rev. Ken Lewis will officiate.
His family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the West Asheville Baptist Church Building Fund, 926 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

I can’t even find a place to start to tell you how sorry we are about Bill’s passing. We heard from ladies at the church last evening. I remember Bill’s faithfulness in Sunday School when I was his teacher for a season. He always had a smile and a kind word of encouragement for me. I am confident that God’s plan for you all is good and His comfort will overwhelm you during these days. We love you, Dale & Judy
Mrs. Holcombe, Debbie & Donna, You have been in our prayers since Mom told us about Mr. Holcombe. There are many memories of him as I was growing up, both at your house and at the beach. We will miss the smile that he always had to give away to others. I ask God’s loving arms to comfort you.

Debbie – you were special in my 16-yr.old S.S. class; Donna – you were special in our Singles Class; and Gerry – you and Bill have always been special. May you have a real sense of God’s presence during this time of sorrow. We love you and our prayers are with you during the days ahead.
