William John Schofield

Arden ~ William John Schofield, 90, of Hendersonville Road, Arden died on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 in a local hospital. A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Mr. Schofield was the son of the late Joseph and Emma Schofield. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the US Navy Seabees. He retired from US Steel in 1980 with 37 years of service. He was a 50 year member of the Roosevelt Masonic Lodge 716 F & A.M. in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte Brinkman Schofield of Arden; a daughter, Cheryl Whitney and husband Richard of Asheville; two sons, Bruce Schofield and wife Pam of Flower Mound, TX and Robert Schofield and wife Darlene of Morton Grove, IL; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. A prayer service will be held Thursday 12:30 P.M. in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with Father Roger Arnsparger officiating. Burial will be held on Monday in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
