William (Bill) Arthur Hawkins, 91, of Enka/Candler, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Charles George VA Medical Center.

Born on January 17, 1935, in Buncombe Co., William was the son of the late Winfred William and Nola Duckett Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanene Couch Hawkins; daughter, Mary Nadine Hawkins; stepson, Sterling Wayne Rose; and granddaughters, Anne and Nola Litz.

He is survived by his children, Robin Hawkins Anderson, Jeff Hawkins, Kimberly Hawkins Litz (Vance), and John William Hawkins (Heather); grandchildren, Nathaniel Litz, Devin Anderson, Lauren Anderson and Mark Anderson; step-grandchildren, Sean Anderson and Eric Anderson; and special in-laws Sam and Anna Couch.

Bill was a member of the United States Marine Corps and served in Operation Blue Bat in Lebanon. He achieved three degrees from A-B Tech Community College in Welding, Machine Shop, and Tool and Die Making. He retired from the Research Shop at BASF with 38 years of employment. He enjoyed family time, Nascar, thrifting, helping neighbors, and fixing things.

There will be a graveside service with military funeral honors at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Candler, with Rev. Glenda Hayner officiating. There will also be a Celebration of Life Service at Oak Hill United Methodist Church on May 9th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
