WALTER 'LEO' McMINN, 71 of Case Road, Fletcher, died Monday, March 22, 1999 in a Henderson County hospital.
A native of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Roy O'Neal and Bessie Coggins McMinn. He was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church and retired in 1990 from the N.C. State University, Agriculture Research Division, with 31 years service.
He is survived by his wife, Betty West McMinn; two sons and their wives, Roland and Debra McMinn of Mills River, Doug and Shari McMinn of Fletcher; three grandsons, Jeffrey Gonce, Joshua McMinn and Jacob McMinn; four sisters, Clara Alford of Columbia, SC, Rebecca Murray of Alexander, NC, Betty Jo Higgins of Old Fort, NC, Faye Huff of Monks Corner, SC; four brothers, Harvey, Ed and Frank McMinn of Arden and Howard McMinn of Hendersonville. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Kate Driggers, Eva Baker and two brothers, Claude McMinn and Billy McMinn.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Boiling Springs Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Jim Carrigan and Harold Holcombe. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian where Mr. McMinn will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
