Walter B. Mac McClellan

Walter B. “Mac” McClellan, 68, of 100 Chaucer, Gaffney, SC, died Sunday, November 21, 2004, in a Gaffney hospital. Mr. McClellan was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Clarence Joseph and Edna Evelyn Jenkins McClellan. He was a Navy veteran, a resident of Gaffney and he was an assistant manager of the Shelby WalMart. He was a member of Gaffney Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife, Margaret Ponder Leonard McClellan; two daughters, Debra Trader of Florence and Penney Kinley of Gaffney; two sons, Keith McClellan of Florence and Michael Ponder of Gaffney; two step-sons Ralph and Richard Renfro of Cape Coral, FL; three sisters, Lois Barrett, Ruth Ballard and Doris Fender, all of Asheville; a brother Donald McClellan of Arden; and eight grandchildren. The funeral service will be at 12:00 noon Wednesday in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Tolley officiating. Burial will be in the Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, William Black Medical Building, Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, 710 W. 168th St., New York, NY 10032-9982, or to Peachtree Center Nursing Home, 1434 Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29340.
