W. Lionel Lyle

W. Lionel Lyle, 90, of Asheville, passed away July 13, 2004, at his home. Mr. Lyle was born in Huntsville, AL and grew up in Asheville. Mr. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Will and Marie Weaver Lyle and by his wife Edna Rickman Lyle. He was also preceded in death by sisters Nora Christopher and Vivian Wells. He was a retired delivery man for Montford Pharmacy and was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his brother, Don Lyle of Asheville; sister, Sara Christopher of Asheville; special sister-in-law, Helen Tweed of Asheville; nephews, Robert Wells of Virginia and Dale Medlock of Swannanoa; and niece Billie Marie Merritt of Columbia, SC. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Enoch Ball, Jr. and the Rev. Glenn Weaver officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. The family wishes to thank caregiver, Anita Brown, Judy Guthrie, Sherry Guthrie, Debra Neal, Carla Haney, Wanda Neal, The VA Medical Center Staff, the Mountain Area Hospice Staff and Joan Warren with Tar Heel Home Care.
