Virginia Swafford

Virginia Swafford, 69, of 53 English Rd., Candler, died Friday, July 7, 2006, at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Yancey Co., Mrs. Swafford was the daughter of the late Hubert and Nita Bryant Williams. She was married to John H. Swafford, Sr., who died in 1995. Mrs. Swafford was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Mitchell. She was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are four sons: Donnie Swafford and his wife Tracey, of Candler, Ronnie Swafford and his wife Kate, of Fairview, John Swafford, Jr., of Candler, and Rex Harris; two sisters, Maude Adams, and Martha Sexton; one brother, Buddy Mitchell; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Pole Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. Interment will follow in the Pole Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
