Virgil C. Griffin, 78, of Ridgeview Road, Leicester, died Monday, August 30, 1999, in an Asheville hospital.
Mr. Griffin was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Willard and Allie Ratcliff Griffin. He was married to Bernice Parham Griffin, who died August 14, 1994, and was also preceded in death by a sister and six brothers. He was retired from Drexel Furniture Co. and was a member of Mountain View Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, V.C. and Leroy Griffin, both of the home, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Friday at Mountain View Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Anthony Fox officiating.
Memorials may be made to Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Elmer Parham, 428 Ridgeview Rd., Leicester, NC, 28748, or to the family.
His family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 pm Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
