Arden- Thomasine Opal “T.O.” Vaughn, of Arden, died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred Moser Hyder.

She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Harold “Harry” Vaughn; two sons, Glenn Allen Gasperson (Wanda) of Arden and Michael Lee Gasperson (Stephanie) of Arden; a sister, Debbie Braese (Paul) of Apex, NC; a brother, Pete Roberts of Hendersonville as well as six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to one of the following charities: St. Jude’s Hospital, Shriners, Humane Society or the Salvation Army.

    You have a beautiful smile that has always light any room you came in. Your truly gonna be missed. Thank you for always being good to me. I’m sorry I lost touch with you. Heaven got a lot sweeter when you walked thru those golden gates. I love you. I’m the mother of one of her grandchildren And Grandma to one of her great grandsons. By her older son.
