Teresa “Diane” Felkel, 56, of Asheville, died suddenly Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Mission Hospital.

Born in Buncombe County, she was the daughter of Patricia (Bruce) Felkel of Asheville, and the late David Felkel. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Terry and DeWayne Felkel.

Diane was employed by J. Crew in Arden as a returns associate.

In addition to her mother, Diane is survived by a sister, Davida Felkel (Johnny) of Asheville; a very special uncle, Charles Penland of Pisgah Forest; a niece, Lauren Felkel of Mooresville, NC; two nephews: Johnny (Stacey) and Kevin Scott; two great-nephews: Tyler Scott and his fiancé Daisy Real and Tucker Scott, all of Asheville; many, many cousins; and her furbaby cat, Gizzy.

Family meant everything to Diane.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Asheville. Friends and family will be received from 11 AM to 1 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian prior to the graveside service.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

She knew how to listen to you and always had support in her words. We always enjoyed talking about any subject, we laughed a lot too. She had a beautiful and generous soul. She made me feel part of her family whom she loved with all her person, she made me feel like a sister. She was always with me in all situations, good and bad. It was a honor to have Diane in my life as a friend, confidant and co-worker. Diane, you leave a very big void in my life. You always be in my heart, prayers and thoughts.   16. Pat and Davida, Don and I are so sorry for your loss. Diane always had the most beautiful smile and a twinkle in her eyes. I always enjoyed seeing what she had cooked, when she put a picture on Facebook. She loved to cook for family, friends and her work family. Many times I would leave a silly remark, or ask for the recipe. I will miss being able to do that.

  17. Diane with that big smile and jolly soulful laugh! We had many talks about her Family and her kitty’s, as we are both cat lovers. Every day we would share cat videos and laugh, laugh and laugh! She was thoughtful in everydway imaginable and not a selfish bone in her body. Her presence lit up the room. There will always be an emptiness in our lives. Our J Crew Family simply thinks the World of her. I Love you Diane and until we meet again…..

  18. Diane was a loving and kind woman. She loved her family and friends and also a fellow cat lover. She was special and went out of her way to make others feel special. I feel blessed to have known her, worked with her at JCREW, and to have been her friend. I will miss her.
