Shirley Ann Capps Wallin Asheville ? Shirley Ann Capps Wallin, 63, of Asheville, went home to be with her Lord Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Elizabeth House. A native of Henderson County, she was a daughter of Mary Whitaker Capps of Hendersonville and the late William Edney Capps. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Wallin, who passed away in 1998. She was a member of Oakley Freewill Baptist Church and had retired from the Buncombe County Health Center in 2004. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Wallin is survived by one sister, Betty J. Capps of Hendersonville; four brothers, Ed Capps of Mountain Home, Henry Capps of Mountain Home, Jerry Capps of Hendersonville and John William Capps of Mills River and several nieces and nephews. Shirley?s family wishes to express their gratitude for the kindness and compassion shown by devoted friends Vickie, Tammy, Sandi and Susan. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, September 16th, in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Rev. Leonard Cutshaw officiating. Interment will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the home of Mary and Betty Capps, 172 Capps Road, Hendersonville. Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O.   1. Shirley was such a dear friend and person and I can’t tell you how much she has meant to me. I will miss her. I am so thankful that she had such a loving and supportive family to care for her. She was a jewel. My sincere sympathy to all of her family. Nancy Gatewood

  2. To Shirleys family, Marlene has been Shirleys hairdresser for over 30 years and her friend. Marlene and I have been working together for over 20 years, therfore I also knew and loved Shirley.
    Marlene is out of town until next wed. and will be unable to attend the service but wanted me to send her deepest smapathy.
    The staff at the salon will dearly miss her. The family is in our prayers.

  3. Shirley will be missed by friends of Oakley FWB Church. She came to visit my wife, Deanna, while she was in the hospital in March 2007. Shirley seemed like a very nice christian Lady. My she rest in the arms of Christ Jesus.

  4. We have always looked forward to seeing Shirley for her dental appointments! She was always one of our favorite patients.. We are so very sorry to hear of her passing. We always enjoyed seeing her and Dewey. We have been remembering her and the family in our prayers. Dr Myron Gottfried and Staff

  5. There are many happy memories shared with Shirley when we worked together at the Health Dept., and seeing her when we’d be getting our hair done at Marlene’s. I am so sad that we have lost her, but am relieved for her that she is no longer ill and in pain. My deepest condolences to her family.
