Sherry Louise Owen, 45, of Asheville, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Memorial Mission Hospital.
Ms. Owen was a weaver at Charles D. Owen Manufacturing. She loved playing poker machines and watching WWE wrestling. Ms. Owen was also a member of the West Asheville House of Prayer.
She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Louise Sams, of Asheville, her lifetime friend and partner, Virginia Cannon, her father Alfred E. Owen Sr. and his wife, Mildred, of Fairview; daughter Elizabeth LeAnn Owen and her fiancée, Randall Light, of Asheville; son Philip Eugene Owen and his wife, Vanessa, of Black Mountain; two sisters, Tammy Muether, and Sheila Owen, of Asheville; one brother, Terry Wayne Owen and his wife Tamara, of Asheville; three grandchildren, Michael J. Owen, Hunter G. Owen, Yazmine LeAnn Light and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews. Ms. Owen was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred E. Owen, Jr., and by her brother-in-law, David Muether.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Avenue with Pastor Randy Gregg officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. Brandon Ray Owen, Terry Josiah Owen, Bruce Angel, Steven Owen, Randy Angel, Joe Lee White, and Tyler Muether will serve as pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends 7-8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

You will be miss by all. You always made me feel like I was a part of your Family, and I always wish I was. You were always there when I needed someone to talk too and you always showed and gave me love. I would like Philip and Beth to know if you need someone to talk too or need anything Please let me know, I want to be there for you like your Mom was for me. Love You
phillip and beth i’m sorry to here of your loss. your mom was always so sweet to me. she never gave us (me, romney, dj, charity) any heat for just hanging out although she didnt want us getting into trouble. she will be missed. again sorry.

Sherry, you were always like my ‘little sister’. We lost our sister, and your friend (Gail Angel) last year at this same time. Now losing you a year later is so hard. You and I share the same birthday and you never forgot to call and wish me a happy birthday. I love you very much and I will miss you.
