segundo garcia

July 29, 1938 ~ July 7, 2026

Born in: Sancti Espiritus, Cuba
Resided in: Candler, NC

Segundo Garcia, born in Cuba, was very proud of his culture and heritage. He enjoyed hosting events where he would cater to everyone by pouring endless glasses of wine and spirits. Not only did he enjoy hosting, but he also enjoyed cooking. Segundo loved it when people enjoyed his delicious dishes, such as Tortilla Espanola, Paella and Turkey and Stuffing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mercedes Garcia, two step-daughters, Mercy (Pablo) Suarez, Yvonne (Shawn) Bourque and his daughters Maribel and Marlen Garcia. Left behind to carry his love of food and wine are his grandchildren, Pablo Suarez, John Suarez, Margaret Bourque and his two bonus grandchildren, Stephanie Suarez and Melissa (Marc) Davis. He was pre-deceased by his parents, sister, Eva and brother, Eduardo, as well as his daughter, Lorelei.

In his honor, pour yourself a glass of wine and enjoy it to the fullest! He would have loved nothing more.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Dean Cesa on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

Guestbook

  1. In Loving Memory
May our father and grandfather rest in eternal peace.

His happiest moments were often found in his reflections. He loved to speak of his cherished childhood memories and carried a deep nostalgia for those beautiful days, frequently sharing stories of the deep, lifelong bonds he kept with his friends across all these years.

On July 7, 2026, the day of his passing, we celebrated a private Mass in his name. We will forever keep him in our thoughts, praying for his eternal peace and rest.

    With all our love,

Your loving daughters, Maribel and Marlene, and your grandchildren
