Sara Willingham Vollett

Mrs. Vollett was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Omer George and Zadie Hanvey Willingham, Sr. She moved to Washington, DC, at the age of 17 where she worked for the US Senate, the House of Representatives, and for Navy Intelligence. She returned to Asheville following her retirement and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

She is survived by one sister, Winifred W. Banning of Florence, SC; three nieces, Ann Banus, Gai Huddleson and Sheila Hedges and three nephews George Wiley Willingham, David Willingham, and Thomas Edward Willingham.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. J. Derrill Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to the choir fund of Grace Baptist Church, 718 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
