Samuel Wayne Merrell, 84, of Asheville, passed away on September 28, 2026, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Black Mountain. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Ann Merrell; siblings, Richard Merrell and Diane Merrell Capps; and infant son, Timothy Dwayne Merrell.

Samuel worked as a Sunbeam Bread Deliveryman for many years and later worked for Gerber and then Meritor. His greatest enjoyment was in music and his family.

A special thanks to the wonderful caregivers and staff at Brookdale Senior Living and the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Black Mountain for their compassionate care for our father.
