Ruth Fuller Stanley, 92, of Charlotte, died peacefully Friday, March 13, 2026 at Preston House Memory Care in Charlotte.

She was the daughter of the late Fred C. and Gracie Stillwell Fuller, formerly of Bryson City. Ruth was the last of ten children and was preceded in death by five brothers: Sewall, Lail, Fred, James, and Bruce Fuller; and four sisters: Lessie Hyatt, Esther Stevens, Edna Henry, and Clara Belle Reed.

Ruth was a graduate of Swain High School in Bryson City and also a graduate of Asheville Beauty. She was a cosmetologist for 54 years, retiring at the age of 75. She also worked for a number of years as a stenographer for Swain County Social Services.

Having varied interests, she studied at two tech schools and at Western Carolina University while living in Cullowhee. While there, she took an interest in flying and took flying lessons. Ruth also enjoyed playing bridge, was a charter member of Leicester Garden Club, and was a member of the former Arden First Baptist Church.

Ruth is survived by three children from a former marriage to Thomas R. Moore of Hayesville, NC: Gregory Moore and Jonathan Moore of Charlotte and Catherine “Tommi” Felkel of Mooresville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 21 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Chip Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, from 2 to 3 PM.
