Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I am so sorry to hear of Rudy’s death. I thought so much of him and have many fond memories of our laughs and conversations over the years, when he came into Boone’s Corner. He told me that he was going to visit me one day in Utah and fish the Green River. I regret that it never happened. My deepest condolence to all of his family.

  2. My sincere condolences to the family of Rudy and all his friends. He thought I was ‘brave’ to move to Utah, where I am presently visiting one of Rudy’s fellow ‘woodsmen’ and my friend Millard (Crockett) Dumas.
So sorry for ALL of you for your loss; (but not for Rudy’s GAIN) A poem follows by John McLeod:

    How Sweet To Hear:

How sweet to hear in evening’s hush
    A song-thrush caroling its joy,
When sunset paints its carmine blush
And day’s dull straws no more employ
The mind, and as one’s rest draws near
A few quiet moments linger yet
To count rich memories so dear . . .
The love of Life one can’t forget!

    Lovingly,

  3. Dear Connie, I am so sorry to hear of your dad’s sudden passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. With love, Joanne

  4. In 1957 when I was 11 years old I ran into Rudy and Horace Squirrel hunting. His great coon dog Otter had treed a squirrel (during the day/coons at night)and they let me shoot it. Junior Johnson always wanted to buy, Otter. Its been a great friendship where as Shiftless Woods Loafers I learned many day and night skills that enabled me to spend 1&1/2 yrs in Vietnam jungles more comfortable than most. I was there when the aristocratic Kathy and Connie were always getting pulled back to earth by the Horace like Steve & then Laura. Whatever I came up with Rudy’s answer was usually, ‘Yeah Boy!’ Rudy could enjoy life and share it more than anybody I ever knew. Our last hoorah was his visit to to my Outlaw Trail Ranch where we fished and loafed horseback in 2004. We are all better off for the calm, quiet guidance of Rudy. By golly those that had Rudy as a friend be the Lucky Ones! Kids, thanks for sharing your Dad…You be the Most fortunate!
