Roseann Marie Lynn

Roseann Marie Lynn left all she knew and loved here on earth on June 19, 2026. A burial service will be held Thursday, July 16, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Western North Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC. A reception will follow at Black Mountain Bistro, 203 E. State Street.

Roseann and her late husband of 67 years, John P. Lynn, Jr., moved from Chicago, IL, to Forest, MS, where they made their home for more than 50 years. They embraced small-town life, quickly becoming active in the community and their church. They were named Citizens of the Year by the Forest Area Chamber of Commerce in 2013 and served as grand marshals of the Christmas parade that year.

Roseann was actively involved for many years with the Garden Club, the Girl Scouts, the Fortnightly Club and the library, among others. She was also instrumental in beginning a Body Recall exercise program and helping to launch the Forest Community Theatre. Her love of her Catholic faith led her to embrace the roles of eucharist minister, lector and Sunday School teacher at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

She was employed as fiscal officer for East Mississippi Legal Services and also worked for the Forest City School System.

In 2016, Roseann and John moved to Asheville to be closer to family. For the past seven years, Roseann resided at Bella Vista retirement home where she continued to be active and make new friends.

Among Roseann’s passions were traveling, gardening, playing bridge, creating handicrafts and cooking. The latter led to her placing second in the state National Beef Cook-off contest for her Southwestern Shells recipe. Her handicrafts were often inspired by her dear friend, the late Marion Epting, with whom she spent many special times.

Roseann and John’s travels throughout the United States and parts of Canada led them to meet and make lifelong friends. She especially cherished the months-long stints when she and John volunteered at the National Park Service gulf beaches near Pensacola, FL. Her family teasingly called her “Ranger Rosie.”

Left to cherish Roseann’s memory are her children, Michael Lynn (Carol), John Lynn, III (Carol Royer), Kathy Self (Rick); grandchildren, Richard Worthington (Kimberly), Peter Lynn, John Martin (Christie), Matthew Martin (Amelia), Audrey Bibb (Robert), Rachel Lynn (Rajiv Sharma); plus great-grandchildren, Ian, Austin and Erin Bibb, Hudson and Maddox Martin, Sage, Emmett and Myer Martin, and Nico and Lucas Lynn-Sharma.
