Robert Conrad Jones, CB Handle "Born Loser", age 62, of Jones Road in Leicester went home to be with his Savior, October 2, 2006 at his residence. He was a life-long native of Buncombe County and a long haul truck driver for 38 years with two million miles accident-free. He received numerous awards from the American Trucking Association over the years. His last employment was with Paschall Truck Lines. He was a member of Bell United Methodist Church. Mr. Jones is survived by his parents, Alexander "Mont" and Ella Mae Jones; his wife Betty J. Jones; his three children, Chad Jones and wife Stacy of Leicester, Christy J. Lawrence and husband Charles of Oteen and Clay Jones of Asheville; one step-son, Steve Ayers of Tonotosassa, FL and six grandchildren, Monica Jones of Candler, Alex Lawrence of Oteen, Becky Guffey of Leicester, and Malik, Tyler and Nick Campbell of the home; one great-grandchild, Harley Hensley of Candler and several close personal friends. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday at Bell United Methodist Church with Reverend George Davis officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. His family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
