Rita Hall Burke

Fairview – Rita Hall Burke, 93, formerly of Cloverleaf Lane, Asheville, died Sunday, April 16, 2006. A native of New York City, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Dernan Hall and wife of the late James J. Burke, Jr. who died in 2001. Mrs. Burke was a retired New York City police officer and a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church. She is survived by a sister, Mary Callahan of Naples, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Marguerite Sweny of Decatur, Georgia and Eileen Chojnowski of Melville, New York and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Episcopal Churchyard. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.
