Rev. Richard Childs Swogger

A native of Kendallville, Indiana, he was son of the late Thomas E. and Flora P. Swogger and was husband of the late Helen Lott Swogger who died in 1995. He was a graduate of Albion College and Drew University and was a retired Methodist minister serving churches in the Midwest. Rev. Swogger was instrumental in the founding of Mountain Area Hospice.

Surviving is one daughter, Patricia Swogger Jennings of Asheville; one son, Charles Richard Swogger of Asheville; one sister, Betty Musselman of Lansing, Michigan; four grandchildren, Steve Jennings of Mount Holly, Jeff Jennings of Charlotte, Lisanne Masterson of Brevard and Richard D. Swogger of Cleveland, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Bethany, Becky and Brittany Jennings and Jordan Masterson; three nieces, Carol Brannon, Mary Fishbeck and Barbara Connor.

Memorial services will be held at 11 am Friday, in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Rev. Richard Walker officiating.

Private interment will follow at Ashelawn Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
