In Loving Memory of Paul Soumwei

Paul Louis Soumwei, 52, passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2026. He was born in Chuuk, in the Federated States of Micronesia to the late Louis and Bruna Soumwei. Paul is also preceded in death by his brother Loretz Soumwei.

Paul is survived by his partner, Emri Debrum; children, Carolyne Soumwei, Christine Soumwei, Junior Soumwei, Castro Soumwei, and Cailie Chloe Soumwei; siblings, Savior Soumwei, Castro Soumwei, Duhlen Soumwei, Mary Soumwei, and Mariah Soumwei; as well as many other loving family members.

A funeral service will take place at Groce Funeral Home, 1401 Patton Ave., Asheville, NC 28806, on Saturday, August 29, at 1:00 p.m., with Father Adrian Porras of St. Barnabas Catholic Church officiating. A visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to share stories and happy memories at the service.
