Oscar Wayne Lisenbee, Sr.

A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Bill and Mae Edney Lisenbee and was husband of the late Mildred Merrell Lisenbee, who died in 1986. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Lisenbee. Mr. Lisenbee was a charter member of the Avery’s Creek Freewill Baptist Church and attended the Words of Life Tabernacle, Stoney Mountain Baptist Church and Fletcher First Baptist Church. He was a former knitter, nurseryman, farmer and retired from Taylor Instrument Co.
He is survived by his three children, Norman, and his wife Brenda, of Arden, Wayne, and his wife Aline, of Fletcher and Marian of Asheville; seven grandchildren, Tammy, Chuck, Aaron, Teresa, David, Donald and Cindy and six great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of Mountain Care.
Services will be held at 4 pm Sunday in Fletcher First Baptist Church conducted by the Revs. Roy Waldroup and James Lee. Burial will follow in Words of Life Tabernacle Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Lisenbee, Aaron Lisenbee, David Youngblood, David Gentry, David Taylor and Robert Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be James Causey, Charles Cline, Raymond Rice, Clayton Rice, Don Sitton, Marvin Butler, Albert Wright, Larry Ball, Martha Edwards, Mike Talley, Gerald Barnette and Dennis Lyda.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 pm Sunday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the building fund of Fletcher First Baptist Church, 5 Cane Creek Road, Fletcher, NC 28732.
