Asheville Butterfly TrailA native of Thorpe, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Albert and Cora Lee Byrd Cox. She was a former resident of New Port Richey, FL; Warren, MI; and Christiansburg, VA. She was a member of Fletcher United Methodist Church and was a loving wife, mother, nana and grandma.
She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Clifton Haley, to whom she was married on January 1, 1938; daughter, Nancy Clifton Haley Thompson of Sterling Heights, MI; son, William “Bill” Jackson Haley of Cutler, IN; sister, Faye Cox Morelli of Sun City, AZ; four grandchildren, Teresa “Teri” Haley Blackman of Oxford, AL; Tamera “Tami” Haley Warner Shafer of Plymouth, IN; Steven Ray Thompson of Osaka, Japan; and Susan Opal Thompson Schigur of Broomfield, CO. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Greg Haley; and six brothers and sisters. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Gregg and Cody Blackman of Oxford, AL; Brandon and Zack Warner of Plymouth, IN; Jacques Shafer of Plymouth, IN; Schigur twins due in July 2001; and one great-great-grandbaby Warner due in June 2001.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday in the Fletcher United Methodist Church conducted by the Reverend Edgar L. Hillman, III. Interment will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, where Mrs. Haley will remain until being placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
