Asheville – Norris Blackwell, 82, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville. Mr. Blackwell was born in Sparland, IL. to the late Vernon Suft Blackwell and Leatha Kimble Blackwell. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of Biltmore United Methodist Church. He graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL and was employed as a V.P. of Finance for Textron. He is survived by his wife, Helen Blackwell. In addition to his wife, Mr. Blackwell is survived by his children, Steven Blackwell and his wife, Esther of Punta Gorda, Fl., Ellen Kelly and her husband, Will of Cary, NC and his step-daughter, Paula London of Winston Salem, NC and a granddaughter, Brittany Vola. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Norma Pulliam Chapel at Givens Estates. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Givens Estates Residence Assistance Fund, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803 or to John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
