Nina Alene Hensley, 70, of 165 S. French Broad Avenue, Asheville, died Friday, May 17, 2002.
Mrs. Hensley was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late George and Maudie Bryant Courtney.
She is survived by her husband Herman Hensley, and was a loving mother to two daughters, Pat Ogle of Fairview and Brenda King of Weaverville and three sons, William Hensley of Arden, Gary Hensley of Weaverville, and Joe Hensley of Asheville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. John Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home and at other times will be at 676 North Louisiana Avenue, Lot 11, Altamont Trailer Park.

Our prayers are with the whole family. And Herman you’ve become a good friend and we know you’ll miss your wife, But know she’s in a better place and well taken care of.
I HAD WORKED WITH NINA AND GOT TO SOME OF HER FAMILY WELL IT WAS A PLEASURE TO HAVE HER AS A RESIDENT AT MAGNOLIA HEALTH CARE SHE WILL BE SADLY MISSED.
TO ALL THE FAMILY, I’M SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT NINA. I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE FEELING,IT IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHAT LIFE WILL BE LIKE WITHOUT YOUR WIFE AND/OR MOTHER, BUT THIS IS A TIME IN YOUR LIFE WHERE GOD CAN GIVE GRACE. HE PROMISED US THAT HE WOULD NEVER LEAVE US NOR FORSAKE US. JUST PUT YOUR TRUST IN HIM FOR THE COMFORT THAT YOU NEED FROM DAY TO DAY. WE HAVE THE PROMISE FROM GOD THAT IF WE HAVE BEEN SAVED, WE TOO, WILL ONE DAY BE REUNITED WITH OUR LOVED ONES THAT HAVE GONE ON BEFORE US TO BE WITH THE LORD.
