Asheville Butterfly TrailMrs. Morgan was born in Candler and was a daughter of the late James T. and Ida Wright Cathey, and she was married to the late Forest L. Morgan.
She was a former sales clerk for Belk’s Department Store in Asheville and was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school in the Primary Department for 28 years.
She is survived by four daughters, Edna Plunkett and Martha Myers of Cincinnati, OH and Jimmie Bocook and Eleanor LaBuda and her husband Arnold LaBuda of Merritt Island; one sister, Florence Cathey of Candler; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald N. Welborn officiating. Burial will be at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

I am one of Dortha Morgan Bentley’s daughter who lives in Atlanta. Please accept my love and heartfelt sympathy in Aunt Nellie’s passing. What a wonderful person she was! I enjoyed visitng with her when she lived on Trotter Place around the corner from our family on Princeton Dr. in Asheville. Her upbeat character continues to speak well in her four wonderful daughters, Edna Mae, Martha, Jimmie and Eleanor. Love, Marilyn
What wonderful memories all my life of Aunt Nellie, her humor and joy of life. Over the years I have thought of her so many times. She was a very special aunt to my mother and became one of mine. My thoughts are with her sister, daughters and their families at this time.
Great Aunt Nellie was a lovely, special lady. My memories are of her fun-loving, warm, and kind ways. We always felt welcomed in her home on Trotter Place. Thinking of you all as you celebrate her 100 years of life! We will all miss her.
