Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. We have known Mildred for a number of years. We remember her as being a very upbeat and pleasant person who loved her God and her Church. We will miss her very much.

  2. Mildred was one of my dearest friends. I had the priviledge of meeting her while I worked alongside of her in the water department of the City of Asheville during the late seventies. Mildred and I remained friends from then on. I visited her at her home many times and we talked on the telephone often. Mildred was one of the most thoughtful and caring persons I have ever known. She never put herself first and was always looking out for someone else. Mildred was a Christian. Mildred loved her church and pastor and would sometimes mail me the program from the sunday before. She loved the Lord. Mildred especially loved making someone who was down and out feel a little bit better by sending them a card, a gift or a phone call just to say that she was praying for them. When she would hear of someone who was celebrating something or who was sick or lonely, she would call me up and say ‘Denise, send so and so a card’ just to make them feel better. Mildred was a jewel of a friend. I know she absolutely loved her mom more than words can say. She never got over loosing her and remained very lonely in her little house in West Asheville. She had neighbors and friends who checked on her regularly but Mildred still seemed to be missing something. She was lonely inside but tried not to show it as she didn’t want to draw attention to her needs. Mildred loved people and being around people. She loved to have friends visit or call or drop a note to her. Mildred was a beautiful woman in her youth. I have seen photographs. Mildred remained beautiful throughout her life, inside and out. I will miss her too and hope to see her again someday. Love, Denise Goodson
