Mildred Green Graham
January 2, 1926 ~ June 30, 2018
Resided in:
Asheville, North Carolina
Mildred Green Graham, the most wonderful mother, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Aston Park Health Care Center, after an extended illness.
Mildred was born in Spartanburg, SC, on January 2, 1926, to the late Grady and Vergie Netherton Green. She was also preceded in death by her husband, C.C. "Junior" Graham; her sisters, Helen (Weldon) Ball, Blanche (Leonard) Hawkins, and Ruth Green; and niece, Carol Robbins.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda J. Graham, of Asheville; an adopted daughter of over 50 years, Guyene Florence, of Asheville, and her children and grandchildren; sister, Doris Barnes, of Asheville; and brother, Grady Green, Jr., of Candler. She is also survived by many special nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Mildred retired from Sears and Roebuck after 30 years of service, primarily as a Division Manager. She was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church and was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 2. Mildred loved God and her family and her family loved her. She was genuinely kind and thoughtful, never saying an unkind word, leaving an imprint on each life she touched. She had a special place in her heart for all children and always had a "little something" special she had made for them at the holidays or a treat after school. She particularly always enjoyed her visits from the youth groups from Starnes Cove Baptist Church. She enjoyed her gardening, her flowers, and always had a word search puzzle in the works.
Her family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. A graveside service will then be held at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler. Pastor Charlie Sams will officiate.
A special "thank you" to Dr. Patel, private duty caregivers, and all those who provided such excellent care, kindness, and love for Mrs. Graham. You know who you are.
Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, by phone, 1(800)822-6344, or at https://www.stjude.org.

Our precious Aunt Mildred – I will so miss her, but I am so glad David and I got to see her when we were home last October. We visited a long time. She also got to meet her great, great, great nephew, Grady Ellis! What a blessing she was.
Aunt Mildred was a much loved, kind and sweet lady. She will always have a special place in my heart. Brenda, I know you miss her so much. My prayers are with you. All my love…
Dear Brenda I’m saddened to hear of Mildred’s passing and both of you have been in my thoughts and prayers. I also wanted you to know that I couldn’t be at the service because I was at Mission Hospital with a medical emergency and was unable to attend. All my love and continued prayers are with you. Tim
