Michael Francis Farrell, 60, of Mars Hill, NC, died and entered into the joy of his Lord Sunday, October 28, 2007 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. Born in Richmond, VA on July 14, 1947, he was the son of Imogene Farrell of Peachtree City, GA and the late Michael James Farrell. Michael married his beloved wife, Mary Jane (Keusch) Farrell in Lansing, MI on November 5, 1966. He served honorably in the USAF from 1966-1970. He attended Michigan State University and Colorado Christian University. He moved to Montrose, CO in 1973 where he raised his family. He was on the Board of Directors at Colorado Christian School and served as a Corrections officer for the Colorado Dept. of Corrections until his retirement in 1992. In Asheville, he was a member of Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church; he was also a member, treasurer and Elder at Trinity Reformed Presbyterian Church in Montrose. Mr. Farrell was active with the Sacred Music Committee that was instrumental in booking and bringing national Christian performers into Montrose. In addition to his mother, and wife, survivors include his daughter, Shannon Black and husband Glenn; three grandsons, Nicholas, Ian and Luke Black; his son, Michael William Farrell and wife Leigh Anna; a brother, Dan Farrell and two nephews, Daniel and J.J.; his sisters-in-law and their husbands, Virginia and Don Gmazel, Kay and John Hanis and Ruth Snyder; aunts Lottie Gowen and Juanita Martin; several nephews and one niece. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church, 281 Edgewood Road, Asheville, Asheville, with Rev. Robert R. Drake officiating. Private interment will be at Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery. His family will receive friends following the service at the church.     May God wrap his loving arms around you and your family and comfort you. It was such a joy to see you and Mike at the all school reunion for COlorado West Christian School last year. I cherish the memories of our times together at Trinity Presbyterian and CWCS.

  3. Dear Mary, We are so sorry to hear of ‘ LT Mike ‘ passing. I worked with Mike most of the time he was at Delta. I will always think of Mike and remember him as a wonderful person. May God keep you safe and may you find strength in his arms.

    I am sorry about Mike passing away, I will miss him. Mike was a great human being, he cared about people in a God loving way, he had a great sense of humor and he stood up for the troops. Mary I enjoyed working with Mike in Delta, God be with you always and yes Mary I am still out there. My thoughts and prayers are with you always.
