Mary Virginia Brewer Wilson, of Prairie Path, Asheville and formerly of Cullowhee, passed away on Thursday, September 02, 2010 in the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
She was born in Hackleburg, AL and was the daughter of the late Thomas Alexander Brewer and Delia Scott Brewer.
She moved from Alabama to Detroit to find work as a teen and was a member of the Gilead Baptist Church in Dearborn, MI.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Albert Hayes Wilson; a daughter, Barbara Wilson Hughes and husband Bascombe of Powder Springs, GA and a son, Dennis Wilson and wife Waynette of Asheville; two sisters, Adalene Stutsman of Cullowhee and Johnie Randolph of Muscle Shoals, AL; five grandchildren, Kathleen Wilson of Asheville, Gregory Hughes of Montgomery, AL, Jeffrey Hughes of Atlanta, GA, Angela Hughes of Kennesaw, GA and Matthew Hughes of San Diego, CA; two great-grandchildren, Colton and Carson Hughes of Montgomery, AL.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home East Asheville on Tunnel Road.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:00 AM prior to the service.
A graveside service will held 3:00 P.M. Saturday in Fairview Gardens Cemetery in Sylva, NC.
