Mary Sue Cole Buckner, 91, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
Mrs. Buckner was a daughter of the late Houston and Macy Harris Cole, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie R. Buckner, son, Randall Lee Buckner, and sister, Martha Lou Thomason.
She was a graduate of Candler High School and attended business college. She owned and operated Brown's Supply, Feed & Seed and Hardware in Candler for more than 40 years. She was also a charter member of the Enka-Candler Business Association and was an active member of the Orchid Society. In addition to raising her four children and operating a business, she was also a talented cook and enjoyed baking for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Lou Anne "Lucy" Wojcik (Woody); sons, William "Bill" Buckner (Sandy), and Mickey Buckner (Toni); five grandchildren, Andrea Howell (Nathan), Stephen Buckner ( Brandy), Michael Buckner (Beth), Meredith Buckner and Jimmie Buckner; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

It was always a pleasure to shop in Ms. Buckner’s store. I am sorry to hear of her passing and know she will be missed. God bless those she has had to leave behind, keep them safe until they are reunited with her.
Mary Sue was a second mother and friend. I grew up spending countless hours and days both at Brown Supply, and at her home, with friends, and family. She always referred to me as as ‘Davis’, and we would often sit at the table in her kitchen and talk until the wee hours. I loved listening and laughing with her, and enjoying the love and friendship of her family.
Memaw was so good to all of us girls at the flower shop. We loved her and looked forward to her coming in every day. She lived a good, long, fruitful life and everyone loved her. All my love to her family.
One of the benefits of working for Mickey at the flower shop was getting to know and love Memaw. She truly was an inspiration to me of hard work and dedication to her family and friends. Always a smile on her face and never complained about working hard. It was an honor to know her, and my love and prayers are with you Mickey and Toni and all your family.
We are very sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother. We remember coming to the store as children and she always has a great smile and a kind words for us. She will be greatly missed

We just love Miss Sue. Such a precious person. The last time I saw her I think it was last summer at the Dollar Store. She needed help with her cart. Sure will miss her!

What great memories I have of going down to Brown Supply with my girls, Joey and Stephanie. Just the sound of the wooden steps on the front porch and the opening of the door are memories I will always hold dear. What a fun place and a great lady who gave us lots of smiles and advice.
