Mary Peppers Rhodin, of Asheville, passed away on December 4th, at her home at Arbor Terrace in Asheville, she was 80 years old. She was born on October 20, 1938 in Lyerly, GA, the third child of the late Arthur Guy and Martha Henderson Peppers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl David Rhodin (David), sister and brother-in-law, Betty Lou and L. B. Cook of Lyerly, GA and brother-in-law Andrew Montgomery of Summerville, GA. After graduating from Trion High School in 1956, she joined the Navy where she served at Naval Air Station-Jacksonville, Florida. It was during this period she met the love of her life, David. A first date on Valentine’s Day was the beginning of a courtship that lasted more than 55 years. Upon leaving the Navy, Mary married David and followed him in his career working for the U. S. Government, where they moved from Rhode Island to Texas, California, New Jersey, Toronto and Calgary, Canada, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. Along the way they were blessed with raising three very active sons. The majority of her later years she lived in Asheville, NC, where she enjoyed her grandchildren and family visits. Mary is survived by her three sons, Michael Rhodin and his wife, Ingrid Klove, of Redding, Ct., John Rhodin and his wife, Karen, of Asheville and Patrick Rhodin and his wife, Emily, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; sister Bonnie Montgomery of Summerville, GA and brothers and sisters-in-law Bob and Joyce Peppers of Cedartown, GA, Pete and Sara Denson of Summerville, GA, Sam and Marilyn Peppers of Lyerly, GA, Steve and Sandra Peppers of Summerville, GA, Bessie Rhodin of North Kingstown, RI; seven grandchildren, Olivia (husband Taylor Stoneking), Kristen, Alana, Jason, Peter, Ella and Noah as well as many nieces and nephews. A private life celebration service will be held at a later date.
