Marjorie Hageman Jaqua Rodgers, 83, formerly of Amherst, Massachusetts,
died on Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Universal Health Care of Fletcher after a
long illness.
Born in Muncie, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late George and Evelyn
Jaqua of Winchester, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband of
54 years, George Gilling Rodgers and her daughter, Elizabeth Rodgers Moyer.
A brother, William, died in childhood.
Mrs. Rodgers graduated from Emma Willard School, attended Smith College
and received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Massachusetts,
Amherst. She received a Masters Degree in counseling from the University of
Southern Maine. Mrs. Rodgers was a member of the admissions staff at
U-Mass Amherst for many years and retired from the University of Southern
Maine in Portland where she was an associate in the admissions office,
concentrating in transfer admissions. She was well-known in several
professional organizations in New England, including the National Student
Exchange and NEACRAO.
She leaves a daughter; Dr. Anne T. Rodgers of Hendersonville, NC; two
granddaughters, Courtney Anne Moyer of Brighton, Massachusetts, and Kristin
Elizabeth Moyer of Pelham, Massachusetts; a sister, Anne J. Taylor of Brevard,
NC; brother, Edwin S. Jaqua of Corrales, NM and her devoted son-in-law,
Ronald E. Moyer of Pelham, MA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Davidson River Presbyterian
Church in Brevard, NC.
Burial will be at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery in Leicester,
Massachusetts.
