Marion H. Lance

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late William Earl and Edith Creasman Hawes and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda J. Nelson.  She was a member of Long Shoals Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Walter E. Lance;  a daughter, Gwendolyn Franks of Dallas, GA;  six sons, William E. Lance of Fort Walton Beach, FL, George A. Lance, Donald E. Lance, and Luther G. Lance of Arden, J. Edward Lance of Fletcher, and H. Daniel Lance of Columbus, GA;  27 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday at Long Shoals Batist Church with the Revs. Roger Rearden and Robert Javis officating.  Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.  Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Saturday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, where Mrs. Lance will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
