Louise Corn Johnston Arden~ Helen Louise Corn Johnston, 92, of the Avery’s Creek community, died Tuesday, August 28th, 2007 at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Rutherford Co., she was a daughter of the late Weldon and Selma Beam Walker. Louise was also preceded in death by her first husband Clyde H. Corn, her second husband, Neil Johnston; a son, Joel Clyde Corn who died in 2000, and three brothers and three sisters. She was a member of Avery’s Creek United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Louise is survived by her daughter in law, Cherry B. Corn of Arden; a brother, Thomas Herbert Walker of Virginia Beach, VA; three granddaughters, Pamela Cook of Fletcher, Andrea Trotter of Salem, SC and Nanette Corn of Arden; three great-grandchildren, Josie and Tyler Trotter and Jackson Cook. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, August 31, 2007 at Long Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Rearden and Rev. Warren H. Owens officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to the service. Burial will follow at Roberts Memorial Park. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road is in charge of the arrangements.

I have such fond memories of growing up with your precious grandmother visiting with my grandmother and listening to them chat and laugh together. I think of your family very often and all of you are in my heart, especially during this difficult time. I love you all.

  6. I met Louise while she was sharing a room at The Oaks. My neighbor, Jessie Davis was her roommate for quite some time. I always looked forward to visiting with Louise when I visited Jessie. Her leaving The Oaks has saddened my friend and we will miss Louise’s kind words and ready smile. Our deepest sympathy to the family.

  7. Nannie was one of a kind! She was a very sweet and caring person, who loved her family very much. My thoughts and prayers go out to each of you in this time of sorrow. Just remember she is in a much better place now and will suffer no longer. I love you guys with all my heart, you have always been my 2nd family! God bless!

  9. Louise was a wonderful person. This was reflected in her beautiful smile. She was loved by many. We thought of her as a member of our family as we had known her for many years.   10. I worked many years at Taylor Instrument with Louise. She was one of the most delightful persons I ever worked with and was a strong contributor at Taylor. Her cheerfulness was contageous. She will be missed. I send my deepest sympathy to the family.
