Lois Smith Kuykendall

Mrs. Kuykendall was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late William J. and Etta Martin Smith. She was married to Geter W. Kuykendall, who died July 27, 1999.

Mrs. Kuykendall was a teacher at Leicester Elementary School for 40 years and she was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.

She is survived by one sister, Mary Wylene Smith of Leicester; one brother-in-law, Lester Kuykendall of Leicester, and by her caregivers, Lillian King, Joyce Rice, and Lavada Wiesbecker.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 pm Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Joe Babb and the Revs. Ray Hipps and Gordon Ball officiating.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Friday at Turkey Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Clennon Parham, Paul Hawkins, Duane Davis, Justin Carpenter, Joe Kuykendall and Mike Lusk. Male member of the church will be honorary pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service Thursday evening.
