Lois Jackson Godfrey, 75, of 28 Cane Street, Asheville, died Monday, August 30, 1999, in a local health care center.

Mrs. Godfrey was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Major Bynum and Pearl Cook Jackson.  She was also
preceded in death by a son, Eric Brian Godfrey in 1993, and by a brother, Roscoe Jackson and a sister, Thelma Godfrey.

Mrs. Godfrey was an
accountant and was also a retired Buncombe County Clerk of Court.  She was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, John Major Godfrey;  five sisters, Christine Eugenides, Ruth Brooks, and Jennie Lee Lawing of Asheville, Juanita Miller of Candler and Frances
Boone of Kannapolis;  a brother, Ben Jackson of Fort Collins, CO;  three grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be
2:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Norman Hubbard officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.>P>Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
