Linnie Maybelle Davis Woodby Asheville ~ Linnie Maybelle Davis Woodby, 94, of Asheville, Died Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Mission Hospitals. A native of Palmetto, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Henry and Georgia Bentley Moss. Maybelle was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Ernest Frank Davis, Sr., who died in 1964; her 2nd husband, Gordon J. Woodby, who died in 1989; and her son, E. Frank Davis, Jr. Maybelle was a longtime member of Biltmore United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Jane Davis Cordell and her husband, Tommy, of Asheville; a daughter-in-law, Lois D. Davis of Asheville; a brother, Roy G. Moss of Powder Springs, GA.; five grandchildren, Larry R. Davis and his wife, Brenda, Lisa D. Slechter and her husband, Ken, John M. Davis and his wife, Paige, Cindy Cordell Peoples and her husband, Brian, and Julie Lynne Cordell; seven great-grandchildren, Matt, Scott, Zeke, Michael, Adam, Justin, and Taylor; one great-great-grandchild, Noah, and several nieces and nephews. A Graveside service will be held at 3:00pm Friday, August 3, 2007 at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard with Reverend Ashley Crowder Stanley, Reverend Tom Lattimer and Reverend Raymond Woodby officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests that memorial donations be made to Biltmore United Methodist Church Ministry Fund, 376 Hendersonville Rd., Asheville NC 28803. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian in Arden is in charge of the arrangements.
