Guestbook

  1. Lounell was a close friend of my mother’s and she was a wonderful person and a good friend to our whole family. We kept up with each other after she moved to Asheville and after my mother died, and she was always such a joy to talk to. She loved her friends, her old students, and most of all, her family so very much. We will miss her!

  2. She was a great role model and friend. I worked for her as an office aid at Truett-McConell and have kept in touch with her all through the years. I visited with her last fall with another classmate and was delighted to see her. She will be missed. OUR PRAYERS WILL BE WITH THE FAMILY.

  3. Our deepest sympathy to the family of our beloved friend, teacher, and mentor of many years. We love her and will miss her very much.

  4. The Dr. Bruce and Cindy Frost family express our condolences to our extended family and friends at the death of our Aunt Lounell.

  5. Our sympathy and prayers to Lounell’s family. My mother, Betty Huey VanSlembrouck, was Lounell’s first cousin. I knew Lounell mostly through my mother’s stories. Shortly after my mother passed away, my husband and two young sons traveled to North Carolina and spent the day with Lounell and Ralph. They gave us a tour of the family homesteads. It is a day we will always remember. Although I hadn’t seen her since I was a little girl, her warmth and kindness made us feel like we had been close for our whole lives.

  6. Dear Family,
I send my heartfelt sympathy to each one of you during this difficult and sad time in your life. I have many fond memories from years gone by that I shall always cherish. I was deeply saddened when I received the news of Lounell’s passing. I know she will be missed by all of you. I, too, shall miss her as we had always stayed in touch by phone visits which I enjoyed so much. She was a very special lady. May time heal your hearts and may God Bless You All.
    Love,
    Marie

  7. We knew Lounell (LL) for the past 33 years – Charlie was a student of hers and she hired him to do handyman work at her house in Salisbury. When Charlie graduated from Catawba, she hosted our entire family at her house. We cherished her friendship. She was always delighted to receive letters and postcards from our travels. Blueberry tea from Alaska was her favorite. Her holiday telephone calls will be sorely missed. We were glad that Marilyn was able to visit her in NC in September 2008. Rest in peace, Lounell.

  8. Please accept the condolences of all Truett-McConnell College alumni, many of whom have wonderful and warm memories of Dr. Mullis when she was on the faculty of our small college in the early 1950s. They loved her dearly! Any time Truett-McConnell loses one of the people who helped build the foundations of this school–and Lounell Mullis was certainly one of those–we are diminished. You are in the prayers and thoughts of many Truett-McConnell alumni at this time.

  9. The Catawba College family mourns the loss of Dr. Mullis, an outstanding educator. We were fortunate to have her as a member of our faculty and I was fortunate to have her as a teacher. She was compassionate and worked hard to help me achieve! Thoughts and prayers are with the family.

  10. Longfellow was right,’…And departing, leave behind us, footprints in the sands of time.’ Lounell did indeed leave footprints wherever she taught and in the lives of not only students but friends like us who stayed in touch for more than sixty years. We will sorely miss her, but she has gone to her heavenly home. She was gifted and blessed and loved. Our prayers go with you. She leaves us cherished memories of a life of service.
