Leone Beach Anderson, age 101, passed away Saturday night, September 8, 2018, at the WNC Baptist Home. Her middle name was "go" and she was on the move with her walker up until March of this year. She is survived by two daughters, Dianne Brasington and Susan Suggs (John); as well as three grandchildren, Adair Suggs, Robert Suggs (Becky) and Scott Suggs (Sarah); four great-grandchildren, Ande, Molly, Graham, and Caroline; and her special friend, Martha Rhodes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, two brothers, and two sisters. She was the oldest living member of her high school graduation class. Leone was a graduate of Watts Hospital School of Nursing and worked during World War II at Duke University Hospital at which time she met the love of her life - a native of Durham, NC. She worked in various hospitals in NC and was an office nurse for Dr. Jim Jones until she retired. She was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church and attended regularly up until the last year of her life. She will be buried beside her husband at Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery in Long Island, NC at a later date. We would like to thank the staff at WNC Baptist Home both in assisted living and the nursing home for their care, kindness, and support of our mother. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

  2. Miss Leone was a dear sweet’Lady’ and a fine example of grace and Christianity. I always have admired her upbeat spirit. Heaven is a sweeter place now.

  3. I am sorry about the death of Mrs. Anderson, It was my privilege to assist her with her tax preparation for many years. I was very impressed with her alertness, even at 100 years of age.
