Asheville ~ Dr. John Merton Larson, 75, of Earlville, Illinois and of Fletcher, NC died on Thursday, November 12, 2009 in Mission Hospitals memorial campus in Asheville, NC. He was born in Ottawa, Illinois and was the son of the late Merton Larson and Edna Larson. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois both undergraduate and medical school. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha, 50 year member of American Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists, Illinois Medical Society, Illinois Society of Anesthesia, Chicago Medical Society. Dr. Larson served as Lt. Commander in the US Navy during Vietnam. He was chief of Anesthesia at Great Lakes Hospital, Great Lakes, Illinois and 35 years of practice of Anesthesia at Community Memorial Hospital in LaGrange, Illinois. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Melinda of Earlville, Illinois and Fletcher, NC; four children, Robert C. Larson of Vernon Hills, IL, Sharon Larson Feinerman of Goodyear, AZ; Dr. Kelly M. Larson of Waynesville, NC and Michael C. Larson of Westmont, IL; son-in-law, Dr. Andrew Denson of Waynesville, daughter-In-law, Megan T. Larson of Westmont, IL and son-in-law, Alan J. Feinerman of Goodyear, Az; five grandchildren, Sean and Sara Feinerman of Goodyear, AZ, Hunter and Chase Lar-son of Westmont, IL and Jessica Larson of Springfield, IL; and a loyal Golden Retriever, Hannah. He leaves behind many friends in the Chicago, Marco Island, Florida and Asheville, NC areas. A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 21, 2009 in Freedom Lutheran Cemetery in Earlville, Illinois.

  2. I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Dr. Larson was such a kind, funny, and generous man. I can still remember his laugh that would echo in our houses when our families would get together over the holidays. He will be deeply missed. May your memories and love give you strength at this difficult time. I miss you all!

  4. We were all saddened to hear the news today about John’s passing away. Jessie says she is praying for Grandpa Larson and she loves her Grammie and she can’t wait to give her a big hug.
