John G. Smith

Mr. Smith was born in Buncombe County, was a son of the late William Mark and Laura Ingle Smith, and was married to the late Marie Gibson Smith. He was retired from the Asheville City School System, having worked at David Millard Junior High and Lee H. Edwards (more recently Asheville) High School. He was a member of Community Chapel Church of God.

He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Terry Boggs and his wife Brenda, of Asheville.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Homer Edwards and Marvin Beshears officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
