Jo Ann Squibb

Jo Ann Squibb, age 94, of Asheville, NC, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, in her residence at Heather Glen Assisted Living Center. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and wife whose kindness, strength, and love touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for devotion to God, unconditional love of others, and endless compassion. She was heaven’s quiet gift to the world.

Born on January 20, 1932 in Limestone, TN, Jo Ann lived a life filled with family and friends. Her and her husband, Dexter Squibb, were avid travelers and western square dancers. Over the years, they acquired many cherished friendships. Jo Ann was also an active member of Groce United Methodist Church in Asheville, NC.

Jo Ann is survived by a daughter, Sandra Lavanne Lane; a son, Kevin Dexter Squibb; and a grandson, Steven Lee Hollingsworth. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Dexter Squibb; her mother, Vesta Eulala Kyker; and her father, Walter Lucky Kyker.

A visitation will be held at Groce Funeral Home, 1401 Patton, Ave. in Asheville, NC on Thursday, Sept. 3 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at Salem Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 147 Washington College Rd., in Limestone, TN on Friday, Sept. 4 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Jo Ann’s name be sent to Groce United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 9459, Asheville, NC 28815.

Though she will be deeply missed, her love, devotion, and memories will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
