Although it has been years, I still remember Aunt Jesse on the occasions that we visited my dad’s homeplace. I have often thought about those times, and shared them with others. Aunt Jesse would be busy fixing supper, carrying in water, or doing dishes, and Sissy, would always be helping. Only once did I get to visit them at their own home out back. They took care of my my grand parents and were both very loving and kind. Visitors would gather in the sitting room of my grandparent’s house, and after meals, my dad and his brothers would play old folk tunes on their fiddles, jugs, spoons, and occasionally someone would yodel or sing words. It was wonderful. I would climb up on the big bed in the corner to watch and listen intently. The memories are etched in my mind forever.
