Jean Gee Wunderman

Asheville ~ Jean Gee Wunderman, 86, of Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community, died on Thursday, February 15, 2007. She was born in Waterloo, Iowa and grew up in Cedar Heights, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Henry Gee and Agnes Laney Gee. Jean graduated from Deer River High School and went on to nurses training in Long Beach, CA and graduated as a registered nurse from Los Angeles County Hospital. Her life included working in hospitals in West Africa, Minneapolis, Seattle, and Pascagoula, MS. Jean was active in the Episcopal Church and the Campfire Girls. Jean enjoyed reading, square dancing, skiing, camping, and mountain climbing. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Wunderman of Asheville; three daughters, Linda Wunderman and husband Mike Dudley of Ogden, UT, Caryn Greef and husband Charles of Louisville, CO and Nancy Gogal and husband Robert, Jr. of Blacksburg, VA; four grandchildren, Lucas Dudley, Joseph Greef, Nicholas Gogal and Jonathan Gogal. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM February 24th in the St. Giles Chapel at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community with the Rev. Morgan Gardner officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Residency Fund, c/o Deerfield Retirement Community, 1617 Hendersonville Rd. Asheville, NC 28803. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road is in charge of arrangements.
