My family was acquainted with Jean in various ways. She was a friend to my father-in-law, Arnold, who had worked at Black Mountain Center. My husband, Tom, and I would sometimes run into her at functions in the Swannanoa Valley. My sons, Gabe and Tim, met her at Black Mountain Center where they did volunteer work with her. Later they worked with Lynn at NCSECU in Carrboro. My friend, Debbie Wallen, spoke often of her beloved aunt and pal. Due to all this, Jean endeared herself to the Joneses as a genuinely nice, amicable, and fun person. (And a huge Carolina fan!) My heart goes out to all of you who were so close to her—we will miss her, too.

Lisa and Lynn, I am so sorry about the loss of your sweet mom. I loved her and have many fond memories of her when we worked together at BMC. Please know that I am thinking of you both and your families.
To Arnelle, Celia, Marie, Elizabeth and the rest of the family: What a special person Jean was. Wish we had gotten to know her sooner as neighbors on Luther Road. Life is just a race anymore and neighbors do not visit or know each other like they used to. We talked a lot on her sister’s porch when she was visiting Arnell. We did go over and visit her one time this winter and she was knitting, watching the Olympics and talking about her grandchildren and had a smile on her face. Her attitude was remarkable. And what a blessing – that four sisters could live next door to each other and be so close. Praying for all of you during this difficult time. Neighbors – Carolyn and Gerald
