Janie Ruth Stephens Birchfield, 73, of Sherwood Forest Lane, Arden, died Monday, February 28, 2000 in a local hospital.

She was a native of Jackson County, and was the daughter of the late John Roberts Stephens and Alice C. Stephens; and wife of Ed H. Birchfield.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Sherry Lynn Birchfield of Fletcher; one son, John Edward "Eddie" Birchfield of Arden; one sister, Amy Sue Case of Fletcher.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, at the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Burial will follow in Emma's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Reverend Roy Rector and Reverend Donald Birchfield officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
